Tomato Shorba is an aromatic spicy shorba flavoured with some whole spices and coriander leaves.Tomato gives an excellent colour and tanginess to the dish.Tomato has given more immunity to fight against diseases.

Tomato Shorba is one among which is liked by all and especially by vegetarians.It is soupy, tangy flavour and has a wonderful smell of ripe tomatoes,fresh herbs and spices.It is healthy, nutritious and great taste.A homemade Tomato Shorba is healthier, cheaper and delicious to taste.

For making this flavourful Tomato Shorba I used red colour ripe tomatoes, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves and some whole indian spices.In winters it keeps the cold away and give relief for those suffering from sore throat.It can be served with Garlic Bread and make a complete meal.

INGREDIENTS

Tomatoes – 500 gm
Green coriander fine chopped – 1 tbsp
Ginger chopped – 1 tbsp
Garlic chopped – 1 tbsp
Green chilli chopped – 1
Onion chopped – 1 small
Sugar – 1 tsp
Salt – ½ tsp
Oil – 1 tbsp
Cumin seed – ½ tsp
Garam masala – ½ tsp

Whole Garam Masala

Bay leaf – 1
Cinnamon stick -1 inch
Green cardamom – 1
Cloves – 2
Black cardamom – 1

For Garnishing

Green coriander fine chopped – 1 tbsp

METHOD

2.Cook tomatoes with ginger, garlic, onion, green chilli and whole spices. Add 5 cups of water with 1-2 whistles.tamatar-ka-shorba-5-1
3.Open the lid of pressure cooker and cool down the mixture.Discard the whole spices.tamatar-ka-shorba-7
4.Blend with hand blender to a smooth puree.tamatar-ka-shorba-8
5.Strain the mixture with soup strainer.tamatar-ka-shorba-9

7.Bring it to boil, add sugar if it is very sour.tamatar-ka-shorba-11-1
