Tawa Naan Without Yeast

After chapati or roti Naan is most popular bread in Indian cuisine.It’s very easy to cook naan on tawa at home.Traditionally naan is cooked in a tandoor(hot clay oven), but at home clay oven is not available,so we can make naan on tawa easily. Tawa Naan also come out really soft and taste so good and can make in few minutes.
There are many variety of naan are available like Garlic naan, Paneer naan,Gobhi naan,Amritsari Chur chur naan or many more.You can make diifferent variety of naan by adding different fillings of your choice.Naan can be served with any curry dish like Dal Makhani, Shahi paneer, Palak paneer or Paneer butter masala.Here we make simple plain Tawa Naan without using any egg or yeast,it’s purely veg.
So, Let’s Start Now
Maida (all purpose flour) – 2 cups
Suji (semolina) – ½ cup
Curd – 1 cup
Salt – ¼ tsp
Sugar – 1 pinch
Baking soda – ¼ tsp
Water – as required
Oil – 1 tsp for covering
Maida – ¼ cup for rolling
Green coriander chopped – 1tbsp
1. Sieve together maida, suji & baking soda, add curd, salt and sugar.
2.Mix well and make a smooth soft dough using water as needed.
3.Cover dough with 1 tsp oil and keep it for ferment for 1-2 hours or overnight.
4.Take a small ball of dough and rolled into a desired shape.
5.Sprinkle some water on one side of the naan and chopped coriander leaves.
6.Heat the tawa on medium heat, put water side naan over tawa, once the naan starts bubbling, turn the tawa over flame keeping about 2 inch away from the flames to cook the naan from top, yes the naan will stick to tawa and will not fall off, once the naan browned to your satisfaction,remove it with the help of tong, and cooked another side direct on fire.
7.When done remove from fire, apply some butter on the naan.
8.Serve hot with any paneer, vegetable curry or with dal.
