Dry Fruit Modak is traditionally a maharashtrian sweet dish which is favorite sweet of “Lord Ganesha” and offered as a prasad on the festival of “Ganesh Chathurti”.Dry Fruit Modak is a sweet dumpling which is made of rice flour, wheat flour or all purpose flour(maida). It can be made steamed or fried.

 

Here the step by step recipe of Fried Dry Fruit Modak.

 

So,Let’s Start Now

 

INGREDIENTS
Maida(all purpose flour) – 1 cup or 100 gm
Semolina(sooji) – 3 tbsp or 50 gm
Ghee – 2 tbsp or 25 gm
Warm water – as required

Stuffing

Khoya – 2 tbsp
Grated coconut – 2 tbsp
Chopped almonds – 1 tbsp
Chopped Cashew nut – 1tbsp
Chopped raisins – 8-10
Cardamom powder – ¼ tsp
Sugar powder – 2 tbsp
Ghee – for frying

 

METHOD

 

1. Mix maida, sooji and ghee in a mixing bowl.


2.Add warm water slowly to get a smooth dough.IMG_1242
3.Keep aside for 15 minutes.
4.For stuffing take khoya, grated coconut, chopped almonds, cashew nuts, raisins and cardamom powder in a bowl, mix well.


5.Now take a lemon sized roll from a dough and roll thin puri in to a 2 or 3 inches in diameter.
6.Now place 1 spoonful of stuffing in the centre,start folding and forming the pleates one by one towards the end. Join the pleats in the centre and gave the shape of modak.


7.Prepare all the modak in the same way.
8.Now heat the ghee in a wok and deep fried all modaks on medium flame till golden brown.


11.First offer modaks to Lord Ganesha as a prasad and then enjoyed.
